Tuscany Weekend Trip- Part 1

This past weekend Adam and I got out of the city and headed to Tuscany. I was able to find cheap flights through Ryanair. Flying Ryanair was an experience in itself... but if you know the process and are prepared i.e. printing your tickets 4 hours before take off and brining a very, very small bag... it's not too bad. We took a bus from London to the airport and thought we might miss our flight. The bus was suppose to take a little over an hour and ended up taking 3 but thankfully we gave ourselves enough time!

We flew into Pisa and rented a car and then drove to our rental in Impruneta. The rental was beautiful, it could use some updating on furnishings but besides that it was perfect. Since it was low season we got a great deal! The rentals are small apartments, it was actually a nice upgrade from our flat in London!

There were some great views from our hotel.

Our apartment we stayed at
On Saturday we didn't have big plans we just drove around and stopped in a couple tasting rooms. This area of Tuscany is know for their Chianti. Our first stop was Vicchiomaggio vineyard.

After we headed to LeCantine diGrevein Chianti. We both really enjoyed this place, it was a large tasting room in the town of Greve. There were lots of places to relax and enjoy the wine.

This place was like a candy shop for adults. You purchase a card with a certain amount of credit then you go around and decide what you want to try. You can chose from a taste, medium pour or full pour. Only thing is if you are like me and not sure what to try it can be a little overwhelming. They have over 140 different varieties to taste!

After we drove for a little bit in search of lunch with a view and stumbled upon the little town of Monefioralle.

Not sure why but Adam looks like he has grey hair, lol.

We ended up eating at La Castellana for lunch and it didn't disappoint!

It was so refreshing to get out of the city and take in the magnificent views!

After lunch we headed to Castello Di Meleto. They had a tour of the castle at 3pm but we arrived late so ends up missing the tour. We still walked around and did some wine tasting.

After we slowly made our way back to our hotel and made it just in time to see a beautiful sun set over the vineyards.
For dinner we headed to Il Battibecco, recommendations from the hotel. The food was okay but felt it was overpriced. Picture of our complimentary soup.
Overall a great day checking out Tuscany!
